Cayman Islands Now Requires Licensing for Crypto Custody and Trading Companies

The Cayman Islands has introduced new regulations requiring firms providing custody and trading services for cryptocurrencies to obtain a license, effective April 1, 2025. This decision follows the country’s efforts to establish a regulatory framework that attracts crypto businesses. Companies already operating must apply for licensing by June 29, 2025, and disclose various details about their operations and asset security measures. Major firms including Coinbase and Binance have already acquired licenses there.
